What is the age range and why these ages?

9-15 years old, Years 5-10.
Students need to be self regulating learners to successfully learn in this manner.

What are the qualifications of the teachers?

At AGE we call our teachers learning coaches. All of our teaching staff are fully registered teachers in NZ. They are all experienced teachers who are able to implement the NZ curriculum and provide exciting project based learning opportunities as well as sound foundation skills in Maths and English. They need to have strong IT skills and most importantly be able to provide supportive pastoral care.

How will the school day work?

Normally there is a 9 a.m. check in time with the whole learning group. The morning provides foundation skills in Maths and English in the whole class, small groups or in  individual teaching sessions.
The afternoon is dedicated to project based learning, creative and physical challenges.

How big are the learning groups?

There is a set maximum of 15 students in each learning group.

What is the cost & commitment?

The cost is $ 14,500 per year for Years 5-10. Each year there are 4 terms per year. The dates are aligned with AGE School. Fees are paid a term in advance.

How do you select the learning coaches?

The AGE Principal appoints the learning coaches for our AGE Virtual Learning Groups.

All have an induction programme to ensure the teachers understand and can implement the AGE Journey. All AGE teachers have regular professional development, attend staff meetings and have annual appraisals.

How do you organise the learning groups?

After online interviews, and if accepted for enrolment, students are grouped into age appropriate learning groups. There is flexibility and the opportunity for both extension and learner support in the Foundation Skills.

How does pastoral care work?

The learning coach is responsible for the pastoral care of students. AGE will also provide an emotional well being programme facilitated by the AGE lead learning coach responsible for this initiative.

What skills and subjects will my child be learning?

Foundation skills of Maths, English and thinking skills will be taught explicitly. Skills including design thinking, self-management, and cross-curriculum subjects are all taught through a termly theme in the form of passion-based projects. EQ skills are also intentionally developed through a programme led by our Wellbeing Lead Coach.
